Beyond the Budget is the Young Economists’ Forum (YEF) at North South University’s flagship policy dialogue centered on Bangladesh’s National Budget and how its allocations across different sectors of the economy shape the country’s economic priorities, development, and the lives of its people. By bringing together students, academics, policymakers, and industry leaders, Beyond the Budget promotes evidence-based discussions and encourages a deeper understanding of Bangladesh’s evolving economic landscape.

The 2026 edition of Beyond the Budget featured a distinguished lineup of speakers from academia, research, and policymaking. The session was moderated by Dr. Syed Mortuza Asif Ehsan, Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Economics at North South University. Dr. Zaidi Sattar, Chairman of the Policy Research Institute (PRI), attended as the Chief Guest, alongside an esteemed panel comprising Mominul Islam, Chairman of Dhaka Stock Exchange PLC, Dr. M. Abu Eusuf, Executive Director of RAPID; Dr. Khondaker Golam Moazzem, Research Director at CPD; Dr. Atonu Rabbani, Research Director at GED, BIDS; and Dr. Sakib Bin Amin, Professor in the Department of Economics and Director of APT at North South University.

Through expert-led discussions and meaningful audience engagement, Beyond the Budget promotes evidence-based dialogue, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of public policy while bridging academic knowledge with real-world policymaking.
